💻 Behind the Screens: Building RuralTech UG for the 2nd ICT Exhibition

Ever wondered what it takes to turn an idea into a working tech showcase for your school? Well, I’m Akram Makubuya, and I had the privilege of developing Luteete SS’s website and powering the RuralTech UG project for the 2nd ICT Exhibition.

The challenge

The exhibition was buzzing with students showcasing their ICT projects, but I wanted to make sure our digital stage matched their energy. Most student sites were WordPress-based, so I knew RuralTech UG had to stand out: functional, interactive, and easy to explore.

What I built

RuralTech UG Dashboard: Using WordPress and Ultimate Member, I created a system where students could upload projects, track their progress, and interact with teachers.

Interactive pages: Visitors could navigate projects seamlessly, from web apps to e-learning tools.

Professional design touches: Responsive layouts, clean interfaces, and easy-to-read project showcases made sure RuralTech UG looked like a real-world tech platform — not just a school project.

Exhibition day

While students were demonstrating their websites and graphics, I was making sure everything online ran smoothly. Screens were displaying RuralTech UG live, judges could check each project digitally, and parents could browse our work effortlessly. Seeing it all come together in real-time was honestly the highlight.

Why it matters

The 2nd ICT Exhibition wasn’t just about winning awards. It was about giving students a platform to explore, learn, and get recognized. With RuralTech UG online, our projects aren’t confined to the exhibition hall — they exist digitally for anyone to see, learn from, and get inspired by.

Looking ahead

Next steps? More interactive features, AI-powered learning tools, and live project showcases. RuralTech UG is just getting started, and I’m excited to keep pushing tech innovation at Luteete SS to the next level.
